Combined rectifier and voltage limiter for mopeds and motorcycles with a split AC/DC electrical system. Converts AC voltage from the generator into DC for the battery and DC consumers, while simultaneously limiting the voltage to protect the lighting and electrical system (AC side) at high engine speeds.
The unit can be used in systems with or without a battery, but is normally fitted to vehicles equipped with a battery.
Important:
The unit must have a good ground connection both via the housing (mounting screw) and via the green wire. The unit should be mounted on the vehicle in a position that ensures adequate cooling.
Part 1: Voltage limiter (volt regulator), yellow wire / connection
This section prevents the voltage from becoming too high and clips voltage spikes. Excess voltage is diverted to ground, protecting the bulbs and extending their service life.
This section is typically used for the headlight and tail light, and sometimes for instrument lighting, i.e. on the AC side.
Part 2: Rectifier, white and red wire / connection
This section rectifies the AC voltage from the generator into DC for battery charging, after which the battery supplies DC power to the DC system. This section is therefore only used on vehicles equipped with a battery.
